Planting Design
Planting Designs can be booked as a stand-alone service if you’d like to refresh or redesign existing borders, or as the next step after a Full Garden Design once the Master Layout Plan has been agreed.
The process starts with a visit to your garden to chat through your ideas, how you use the space, and what you’d like the planting to achieve. I’ll also take a close look at the site, including light levels, soil type and existing plants. From there, I’ll share a small collection of reference images to help capture the overall feel of the planting — from colours and textures to the types of plants that will work best.
Designing a planting plan is a mix of creativity and careful planning. Each scheme is thoughtfully put together, considering colour, shape, texture and seasonal interest, as well as practical factors like maintenance levels, aspect, soil conditions and how different plants work together. The aim is to create planting that feels natural, balanced and enjoyable throughout the year.
You’ll receive a fully scaled planting plan showing exactly which plants are needed, their sizes and how many of each, making it straightforward to bring the design to life.
Maintenance
Helping plants to settle in and caring for them over time is just as important as the initial design. After planting, I can return to check how the borders are establishing and make sure everything is on the right track.
I also offer ongoing maintenance if you’d like a helping hand, keeping the planting healthy, tidy and looking great as it grows and evolves over the years.
